GROUP PROFILE

Traffer teams built for crypto theft

Crazy Evil is structured as a traffer operation: it redirects legitimate web and social traffic to malicious sites, with multiple sub-teams running tailored lures for different audiences. Its goal is direct theft of cryptocurrency, NFTs and other digital assets.

Our record places its origin as Russia and ties it to campaigns across cryptocurrency, finance and media. Reporting estimates profits in the millions, making it one of the more organized and persistent crypto-scam gangs.

The group's approach is pure social engineering at scale. It impersonates AI, gaming and Web3 startups, runs fake job interviews, and distributes macOS and Windows infostealers through convincing fake apps rather than exploiting software.

A separate June 2026 cluster delivered the LameHug malware through spear-phishing ZIP archives using double-extension lures.
